Sherry Johnston, the mother of Levi Johnston, was sentenced to three years following her conviction for selling Oxycontin illegally.

Levi Johnston became famous as the unwed father of Sarah Palin's grandson. His notoriety led to a recent photo spread for Playgirl.

In a plea bargain, Sherry Johnston agreed to five of a total charges against her being dropped in exchange for a guilty plea on one count, the Anchorage Daily News reported in a Nov. 20 article. In accordance with the deal, Ms. Johnston received a three year prison term with an additional three years of probation.

According to the article, a lawyer for Ms. Johnston was seeking to have his client remanded to house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor to ensure her compliance. The lawyer, Rex Butler, said that Sherry Johnston was "a poster child for health care reform" because she was selling her own prescription OxyContin in order to buy other pharmaceuticals that she needed. Johnston suffers from chronic pain that she says is the result of operations she's previously undergone.

Levi Johnston attended the sentencing.
